I’m inconsolable at the moment, as it seems most of the third party apps on my iPhone 4 have stopped working or, at least, they’re not opening and I don’t know why. I mean come on …

I’m especially bummed because I can’t access my faithful app, Pocket Money, which I use to keep track of day to day expenditure. It’s so frustrating. It worked perfectly last weekend and now?

    Any suggestions anyone?

Jesus H … the steady rain that’s been pouring down all morning has turned to …

    SNOW!

    It’s freaking snowing.

I guess I should have realised last night that this morning was going to be difficult in that, after doing an hour at physio and then, coming home and cramming in several sets of exercises, that I was going to wake this morning like a stiff on the proverbial mortuary table.

It was like raising the dead … well, okay, maybe not that bad, but close enough.

Today, I’m going to be a lot more gentle on myself, and try not to cram in so many sets as if that will ‘cure’ me in an afternoon. I need to pace myself between now and next Tuesday. I don’t want to turn up for my next physio appt. worse off than where I started.

After all, I’m no spring chicken anymore but rather a spent hen past her egg laying days.

So for those of you following along, the first physio appointment went well. I was pulled, poked, prodded, measured and manipulated to the point my shoulder now actually moved and yes, while the muscles are complaining, it’s a good pain.

I now have a sheet listing a series of exercises I’m to complete through out the day, doing so many sets at each session. And have my next appointment on Tuesday to see how everything’s going. Plus I’m booked in for a massage session. Now I’m really looking forward to that, let me tell you.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go do my first posture and stretching exercises.

Just got back from yet another visit to the dentist. Last week it was the hygienist which set me back $300. Today it was for a 15 minute filling on a back molar which, for all the time I was there, just cost me another $295. Clearly if you want to make good money these days, you can’t go wrong choosing dentistry as your career path.

Throw in the fact I have yet another appointment on the 16th for a very expensive crown, at $1800. This will not only be an extremely expensive month, but also, there goes any hope of a summer holiday!

    Bah humbug.

I’m only now just catching up with my posts after a hectic morning of errands and the dentist. Well, I should say, the hygienist. And now, not only am I sat here nursing my poor sore mouth after her battle with the plaque—in which I think the plaque won—I am also out of pocket by a considerable amount of money: $299

I nearly suffered a hernia when the receptionist handed me the bill. I mean, come on people, two hundred and ninety nine dollars? There’s definitely money to be made in dentistry. A third of the bill was for a full scan X-ray of my teeth with one of those revolving X-ray machines. Then, another third for a 5 minute consult with the dentist to tell me I had two small cavities forming (which of course means more visits and money.) And then, the last third was for the actual clean and polish by the hygienist. Yikes!

    There goes everyone’s Easter eggs.

I better start saving for my next appointment.

I figured it out … how to implement microhooks on on the tiny theme for Book Blurb and now have a bright new shiny logo!

I am so proud of myself.

Bonjour everyone — another update for you on my health. And, of course, a chance for me to say another BIG thank you to everyone who continues to ask after how I’m doing.

As with any ongoing illness I have good days and I have bad days. Thankfully, the good days are far outweighing the bad, so as far as I’m concerned, that’s a good thing and a huge improvement. That said, I still don’t feel anywhere 100% and hope it’s just a matter of time, rest, and good diet that will make the difference. I continue to maintain a positive outlook as I know others have gone through worse, and come out the other side.

Yesterday was my birthday and, as promised, the OH bought breakfast donuts for us. And for dinner, cooked up pork chops and veggies for us both. I even got out of the dishes!

Life continues and I am forever grateful to my partner and family for their support. Don’t forget to tell your loved ones just how much they mean to you each and every day. Take care of you all …

    Love,
    Alex

Had the first lie-in I’ve had in ages this morning, given the OH is staying over at their mother’s due to her fall. I got to have the shower all to myself, as in, I could take as long as I wanted and hog all the hot water. Then, I had fried egg on toast (thanks Annie for reminding me how good eggs on toast is). I then made myself a Nespresso and frothed up some milk in the milk machine and had myself a homemade latte in a big mug.

Now I’m sat here drinking my coffee, looking out the window at ice crystals floating in the air. Talk about a magical morning. And even though the sun is shining, It’s cold enough for these tiny glittery jewels to form and put on a show.

    Ah, the good life.

I do not want to do adult things today …

Fourth day in a row we’ve been graced with absolutely glorious sunshine … the downside to all this glistening beauty? The frigid cold. It’s a cheek-chaffing minus 16 out there again today!

The idea started with me writing a list for all the travel places I want to visit now we’re slowly emerging from covid. And from there, I thought I’d write a series of posts (create a list or two, or a spreadsheet) and then thought, well, this project needs it’s own page. So, was about to create a new page (travel) over on my website and realised, a page wasn’t going to cut it. I needed to be able to add extra pages and have a theme that handled large format images and so much more …

And … and I created a subdomain instead as that offers me all I need. I don’t need a new host or domain name, I have those, all I needed was somewhere to house my new and emergent project.

So, lo and behold, Ma Belle Ville has emerged from the mists of a thought. And, as of writing this, is being populated with posts, pages, and, what I hope will be interesting stuff to visitors, and not just me.

I hope you’ll stop by and take a look.

Just discovered Marmite has done an XO version of it’s oh so tasty spread … how the hell do I get a pot (or three?)

We’re supposed to be doing a special birthday dinner for my sister in law’s 50th tonight. The restaurant’s booked and the taxi is scheduled. So, of course, who was sick last night with some unknown thing that had me getting up in the middle of the night to sit on the porcelain throne?

    Of course, me.

I hope I feel settled enough by at least 4 pm this afternoon, otherwise I might have to cancel.

A pot of tomato soup is on the go, the rice pudding is in the oven, and the fresh baguette is waiting on the side.

    That’s dinner sorted.

So, what kind of soup shall I make for later?

    • Oh, look I have eyes budding potato soup
    • Slightly mushed and blemished tomato soup
    • Passed their sell-by date mini carrot soup
Or maybe I should just make a tuna and pasta bake? Yeah, maybe that might be safer, right?

    Severe wind warnings in place.
    Severe snowstorm warnings in place.
Severe windchill warning in place …

The weather outside my window is, to say the least, severe. The trees are thrashing their displeasure. Me? I’m on my second cup of coffee of the morning—yeah okay, I know, it’s instant, so sue me already!
