Last week was a blur not because I was exceptionally busy, indeed, quite the opposite in fact. It was so empty and devoid of anything of interest happening that, by Saturday, I was left wondering where the week had gone. Saturday, however, was the one month anniversary of the passing of my father in law. So we were all up early and at mass—and no, before you ask, I’m not Catholic let alone religious—but, in support of the family, I went.

The reward for an early morning and feeling oddly out of place, was that the service took place in the crypt of the basilica, and therefore, while freezingly cold, we were surrounded by lots of flowers and gold-leaf splendour.

To make up for the fact we were all blue (on so many levels) we met up at the same restaurant as we did after the funeral, in December. It was good to sit in the warmth and tuck into a hearty breakfast (brunch).

Sunday in contrast, we did naff all including skipping the usual cleaning ritual—though I did wash the bedding and have a shower. There are some things you just don’t skip.

📺 TV shows watched this week:

  • Monsieur Spade S1. E2.
  • Death & Other Details S1. E3.
  • Percy Jackson and the Olympians
  • Criminal Record S1. E4.
  • Stitchers S3.
  • Star Wars: Andor
And, because I binge watched the first season of Andor, I also snuck in a re-watch of Star Wars: Rogue One.

This week also saw me cook a lot of chicken. My sister in law gave me a large batch that I then turned into, a Moroccan tagine dish with apricots, a chicken hot pot, chicken and chips, and Italian chicken with pasta.

This week there will be no chicken on the menu.
