I’m beginning to think Spielberg loves WWII and is stuck on showing the world how great America was in the war by force-feeding us a narrative that makes it look like no one else did anything till the Yanks turned up and won it for us. I got as far as the English country pub scene and, promptly left the room. The OH didn’t watch too much more. They got to the part where someone landed a bomber, in Norway, and switched off at the Airmen’s club scene.
Obviously we’re not the target audience for this fantasy.
