So week three started slowly, but ended with a party—more on that later. I can’t say anything exciting happened. The OH is still dealing with a ton of paperwork finishing up with their father’s passing in December. I never thought we’d still be here, in the 3rd week of January filling in online forms for this government department, and that one. What creeps me out is the fact that so many of these forms have to be filed with a copy of the death certificate—which, by the way, still hasn’t been officially issued by the relevant government department (we might get it mid-February!) Never mind the fact they also want a fee.

It’s exhausting. That’s what it is.

Anyway, all that aside, I got back into my cooking groove this week and knocked at a so-so lasagne, a large pot of hearty tomato soup, and made a from scratch rice pudding while I was at it.

Friday morning I had a visit from the nurse to draw blood, 3 vials this time, for my annual check up at the beginning of February. Hopefully, everything is as it should be.

As I said, we celebrated my sister in law’s birthday party at a high-end steak place in town Saturday evening and, while we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, the food wasn’t that high-end or great. But I behaved myself and didn’t complain making sure I didn’t disrupt the mood at the table. I ate my lukewarm steak in silence, with a smile, and washed it down with a Shirley Temple.

📺 TV shows watched this week:

  • Criminal Records — episode 3 rocked it, as do the two stars of the show, Peter Capaldi & Cush Jumbo.
  • Death and other Details — I'm thoroughly enjoying the sniping on this whodunit!
  • Stitchers Season 2 — was equally as enjoyable as season 1.
  • Station Eleven — I started watching the first couple of episode of this one and, well, I'm not sure. It's not that the acting is bad or anything it's just that do I really want to watch another post-apocalypse show after we all went through the real thing these last 4 years?
And that, they say, is it. Other than getting to see the family on Saturday in a party mood, it's been a slow, quiet week.
