Monsieur Spade S.1 E.1 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 2024 TV Show Watched 18 January, 2024
We discovered this new noir crime thriller over on Acorn TV and, to be honest, I was hoping for more. I think I like the over all premise—Sam Spade the infamous American PI has retired to the French countryside and, as is his usual style, embroiled in everyone’s business. On paper great, the first episode was intriguing enough and full of twists and turns. Enough to make me want to watch the next episode (Sundays).
But.
I think the problem is the casting of Clive Owen as the beloved gritty detective. He has the right look and demeanour … but the voice? The bad accent? It’s so jarring. Could they not have cast an American? Sigh … I guess I shall have to wait and see if this one grows on me, or not.
