A curious week of of everyone slowly easing back into normalcy and routine, with not a lot going on other than work. It’s just too damn cold and snowy this week to go out or do anything, in stark contrast to the last couple of months of mild weather. Winter definitely let her wrath be known this week with almost 2 feet of snow, and temps plummeting down towards minus 20 at one point. Topping the week off with a huge storm Friday through Saturday.

I joined in with a few others in testing and playing around with Vincent’s new Scribbles blogging space. Like Bear and Pika pages, it’s a bear bones offering at this stage, but with a nice clean interface, and editing tools that make posting easy. I’m sure Vincent will add and tweak it based on user feedback or, as he sees fit.

Next weekend we’re all off out on the Saturday to eat at a high end steak place for my sister in law’s 50th birthday bash. My OH was in talks to go half in on the bill with my sister in law’s partner. But, given the cost of a simple steak there, we might need to take out a second mortgage to pay for our own meals let alone a party of 8. I’ll tell you more in next week’s weeknotes.

📺 TV shows watched this week:

  • Criminal Record (Apple+) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — enjoyed the opening 2 episodes of this new British-based crime drama from the Apple stable. Down, dirty, and gritty.
  • For All Mankind (Apple+) ⭐️⭐️⭐️ — this season finale lacked a good cliffhanger and felt a little lacklustre to me
  • Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (Apple+) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — now this is how you end a season, on a great action sequence with a good cliffhanger
  • Class of '09 (Disney+) ⭐️⭐️⭐️ — this one lacked a cohesive narrative and had unsympathetic characters
  • Stitchers (Disney+) ⭐️⭐️⭐️ — watchable silly scifi fun solving crime by getting into the minds of the dead
Meanwhile, though short in length, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, showing on Disney, goes from strength to strength. I'm really enjoying the kids in this one.

🍿 Movies watched:

  • The Family Plan (Apple+) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — Mark Wahlberg doing his thing in this fun action-packed romp. Grab the popcorn and just enjoy!
